Post-QuinTuple

Just back from the BBQ at Tall Tree after what turned out to be a terrific event. We received positive feedback from all at the BBQ, and we're all very happy with the way the day unfolded. Many thanks go to Mar and Glenn for their massive contribution in providing water, bananas and e-load caps (out of Glenn's personal stock no less) at the Low checkpoint, followed by BBQ mastery back at the shop. Their contribution was essential to the day's success.

Many thanks must also go out to all the riders who came out today. It was a leap of faith for many, but that leap was rewarded. The route was difficult today after our dry spell recently, making much of the dirt rather loose. Some found this tough and at times scary, others enjoyed the wild ride. Its hit or miss with the dirt roads, but when they are good, its a treat. The more you ride up there the more opportunity you have to ride the dirt in its buff form. By all accounts, the 5-person format worked really well. Its a keeper.

If one member from each team would please submit their team's photos (to quintupleclassic@gmail.com) for both the required spots and contest categories we can get the times sorted, judging carried out. I'll post again asap with some photos we got and recount the day's events for those who didn't make it out. I'll also write a few words about the next two events we have in the works for this fall.

awesome sweet! Thanks everyone, I am the guy with the old built in Roubaix bike who jumped in at Masham. I rode 110 km today, as I went North from Masham to meet up with the quintuple ride, and thought I had missed you all somehow, turned around 1/2 way along Kalall at 11 am, then we all met up and I rode to Pinks Lake with front 2 teams. THANKS ! I was injured and did not want to ride the whole way - next year !

Excellent event, thanks for organizing this! Probably my favourite ride of the year.

Really happy you guys had a good time. Its all about the riders, and we had a great field. Potential favourite ride of the year is pretty high praise Chris, a positive indication that we chose the route well.

Don, I'm still trying to figure out your bike's builder. I'd hoped it would pop into my head, but no, it didn't. I suspect this is because I don't have a clue! Not very well versed on French builders, with the exception of some of the constucteurs (just versed). Glad you managed to get on to a couple groups. Hopefully you'll be ready to rock next year.

Nice job guys. Really interesting course, challenging ride, and great support. You've got the potential for an annual classic here!

Matt, it is a 1983 Claude Pottie, hand-built in a small backroom shop in Roubaix. I would love to tell you a lot more but I do not think this is the forum? Email me at dpeterkin@telus.net and I will get back to you with more fun-bits.

Awesome day and great company on our team. Sure, it took us 9 hours but hey, who's counting?

Mental note to run lower gearing next time as I was running road gearing. Would have actually loved a triple ring in spots ;)

For sure Sean, low gearing is nice when its loose like that. I'm much happier on compact cranks than I was on standard. A triple would certainly keep the spin going nicely.
